Course Description: This course covers narrative structures, genres, styles, technological practices, criticism, and theory in film and television. Through a combination of assigned film and television, readings, and reflection questions, this course will familiarize you with the many aspects of film analysis, criticism, narrative structures, story, thematic elements, characters and acting, and style.

Required Text: this class incorporates extensive film and television viewings with readings and written pieces. The required readings will be from The Art of Watching Films by Joseph M. Boggs & Dennis W. Petrie [download the 90MB PDF here].  Reflection questions will be posted on this website to complement the readings and film and TV episodes viewed in a given week.
